Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced the Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition in India, carrying a starting price of ₹36.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

Unlike previous iterations of the Leader Edition which were handled at the dealer level, this new version comes directly from the manufacturer, bringing exterior styling changes and additional features to the full-size SUV segment.

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: Price and Transmission Options

The new edition is available in two configurations:

4x2 Manual, ₹36.51 lakh

4x2 Automatic, ₹38.72 lakh

The automatic version costs ₹2.21 lakh more than the manual. Bookings are scheduled to open on 12 October 2026. The Leader Edition is available only with a 4x2 drivetrain; a four-wheel-drive option is not offered.

Exterior Styling: Black Exterior Details

The Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition gets several black exterior elements that distinguish it from other Fortuner variants.

Front Design: It features a revised front grille and an exclusive bonnet emblem.

Black Exterior Elements: The SUV gets a black roof, black body-side mouldings and a black rear door garnish.

Alloy Wheels and Antenna: The alloy wheels feature a gloss-black finish with matching hub caps. It also gets a black roof-mounted shark-fin antenna.

Colour Options: The Fortuner Leader Edition is available in Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black. The Silver Metallic colour option offered with earlier versions has been discontinued.

Cabin Features and Equipment

Inside, the Fortuner Leader Edition gets dual-tone black-and-maroon seat upholstery with matching door trims. Other features include ambient lighting, illuminated scuff plates, auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs) and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Ambient lighting is the main addition over the 2025 Leader Edition, while most of the other listed features were already available on the previous version.

Engine and Performance Remain Unchanged

The new edition retains Toyota’s 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. It produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque when paired with the six-speed automatic gearbox. With the six-speed manual transmission, the engine delivers 420 Nm of torque.

The 2026 edition receives no mechanical updates. The update focuses on exterior styling and cabin equipment rather than engine performance or drivetrain options.

The 2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition adds distinct styling and a small equipment update while retaining the existing diesel powertrain. Its two 4x2 transmission options are priced at ₹36.51 lakh and ₹38.72 lakh, ex-showroom.
