SUV demand is particularly high in India, especially for seven-seat models. The next two best-selling vehicles are the Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Alcazar, then Mahindra's Bolero, Scorpio, and XUV700. These SUVs feature a rugged exterior design and excellent off-road performance, efficiency, and usefulness.
Compared to February of the previous year, sales of Mahindra's Bolero SUV dropped by 11%, from 11,045 vehicles sold to 9,782 units. The Bolero is powered by a 1.5L diesel engine that generates 210Nm of torque and 75bhp of power. In contrast, the Bolero Neo's 1.5L diesel engine produces 240 Nm of torque and 100 horsepower. The SUV is priced between Rs 9.78 lakh and Rs 10.79 lakh, while the Bolero Neo 7-seater is priced between Rs 9.63 lakh and Rs 12.14 lakh.
Nonetheless, Mahindra's Scorpio SUV had a 166% surge in sales in February 2023, moving 6,950 units as opposed to 2,610 units in the same month the year before. The Scorpio N model is propelled by a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that produces 175 bhp/370 Nm (MT)/400 Nm and a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that produces 132 bhp/300 Nm (AT). A 2.2L Gen 2 mHawk diesel engine that produces 300Nm and 132 horsepower powers the Scorpio Classic. While the Scorpio N costs between Rs. 12.74 lakh and Rs. 24.05 lakh, the Scorpio Classic costs between Rs. 12.64 lakh and Rs. 16.14 lakh.
Mahindra's top-selling SUV, the XUV700, saw sales of 4,505 units in February 2023, a 9% increase over the 4,138 units they sold in the same month in the previous year. Two engine choices are offered for the XUV700: a 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The diesel engine gives 155 horsepower with 360 Nm of torque or 185 bhp with 420 Nm (MT)/450 of torque, while the gasoline engine generates 200 bhp and 380 Nm of torque (AT). The price range for the SUV right now is between Rs 13.45 lakh and Rs 25.48 lakh.
With 3,426 units sold in February 2023—an incredible 85 per cent increase over the same month the previous year when they sold 1,848 units—Fortuner Toyota's SUV claimed the fourth spot in the sales rankings. The 7-seater SUV comes in 4X2 MT and 4X2 AT petrol variants and is powered by a 2.7L petrol engine (166bhp/245Nm) or a 2.8L diesel engine (204bhp/420Nm). The SUV's petrol versions are priced at Rs 32.59 lakh and Rs 34.18 lakh, respectively, while its diesel models can be purchased for between Rs 35.09 lakh and Rs 50.34 lakh.
With 1,559 units sold in February 2023 as opposed to 2,516 units sold in the same month the year before, Hyundai's Alcazar SUV had a fall in sales. The Vehicle is offered with both gasoline and diesel engine choices. The diesel model is powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo engine that produces 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while the petrol model has a 2.0L, 4-cylinder engine that produces 159 bhp and 192 Nm of torque. The price range for the SUV is between Rs 16.71 lakh to Rs 21.10 lakh.
