Suzuki eWX EV Design Patented in India

The Suzuki eWX, a planned electric hatchback, has an Indian patent pending on its design. In 2023, the Tokyo Motor Show had the initial unveiling of the eWX concept vehicle.

Suzuki eWX: Styling and Dimensions

With its length of about 3.4 meters, the Suzuki eWX concept car complies with Japan's Kei car laws. Its tallboy, boxy body, and general style are reminiscent of the Wagon R. The S-Presso offered in India is larger than the eWX, though. The patented concept design has no headlights and a curved windshield that stretches past the A-pillars without the B-pillars. The car also has fully covered wheel caps and body cladding all around the outside.

While Suzuki has not yet disclosed the specifications of the eWX, it is expected to come with a single-motor setup. Previously, Suzuki indicated that this concept could offer a range of approximately 230 kilometers.

Suzuki eWX: Launch Details

Maruti Suzuki has not yet disclosed an exact date for the eWX's Indian launch. On the other hand, rumors indicate that Maruti may add a hatchback based on the eWX to its portfolio in 2026–2027. This new vehicle, which will be based on the K-EV platform and is anticipated to be substantially localized for the Indian market, will compete with the Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.

Suzuki is also working on the eVX, a mid-size electric SUV, in addition to the eWX. The production timeline for the eVX SUV has been shifted from September 2024 to February 2025. The eVX would be Maruti's first electric vehicle offering in India, competing with the planned Hyundai Creta EV.
