Skoda has entered the sub 4m SUV segment for the first time in India with the launch of Kylaq. This is a mass-market offering from the brand, which is expected to bring a lot of volume surplus for the brand. Of the four trims, Signature+ seems to be the most VFM and Kylaq's variant of choice.
Let's take a closer look at what it has to offer. Skoda Kylaq Signature+ Variant was launched in the country in four trims-Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige.
We sampled the top-spec Prestige trim and everything it had to offer at the recent media drive. You can read the first ride review and our opinions on Skoda Kylaq (Manual and Automatic).
In this read, we will have a look at the Signature + trim level, one below top-spec Prestige. The Signature+ does not miss out on much on the features count and is pretty loaded. Especially when we consider that Signature+ is around Rs 2 lakh cheaper in (Ex-sh) price.
Outside, the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ gets the same fascia as Prestige with gloss Black finishes on the Butterfly grill, LED headlights, and LED DRLs with turn indicators.
There are 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 205-section tires. Faux roof rails, chrome door handles, and LED tail lights are also present. Rear misses out on a washer and wiper, which only Prestige trim gets. Signature+ gets a rear defogger, though.
On the inside, Signature+ is identical to Prestige as both trim quite a lot of features and equipment. The most glaring omission that is immediately visible is the sunroof, which is not a requirement for a hot Indian climate anyway.
Other notable features omitted in Signature+ trim when compared with Prestige trim include an auto-dimming IRVM, leatherette upholstery, electrically powered front seats which are operated 6-ways, ventilated seats at the front and a few other features.
Yet there are many decent and essential features that Skoda has not ignored. These include a 10.2 inch infotainment screen that comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a completely digital TFT cockpit, cruise control, auto headlights, height adjust for the driver's seat, automatic climate control with air purifiers, rear AC vents, five adjustable headrests and five 3-point seatbelts, ABS, EBD, six airbags, telescopic adjustment for steering and more.
Under the bonnet, the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ variant has the same 1.0L TSI 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine. This engine can generate a maximum power of 114 bhp and at peak torques of 178 Nm. The Signature+ offers a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT gearbox.
