Noida Police's Vigorous Traffic Rule Enforcement

The Noida Traffic Police has relaunched a road safety campaign to enforce traffic rules. On the first day of the campaign, they issued over 3,400 traffic challans to people in Noida and Greater Noida. This initiative aims to educate people about road safety and the importance of following traffic regulations. They had a similar campaign for 15 days in December last year.

During the recent crackdown, the police fined 3,453 commuters using e-challans for various violations. Around 540 fines were for two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets. Additionally, 443 people were fined for unauthorized parking, 266 for driving on the wrong side, 215 for over-speeding, and 112 for not wearing seat belts. They also fined 67 vehicles for having faulty registration plates and 17 for driving with expired fitness certificates.

Following the Uttar Pradesh government's commitment to curb traffic violations in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Noida Police plans to implement stricter traffic rules. They've advised vehicle owners and drivers to be vigilant about the fines issued to them. The police announced plans to cancel the driving licenses of repeat traffic offenders who receive more than three challans for breaking traffic rules. Offenses like jumping red lights, over-speeding, overloading vehicles, carrying passengers in goods vehicles, using mobile phones while driving, or driving under the influence of alcohol could lead to license cancellation.

By September last year, the Noida Police had issued over 14 lakh challans to traffic violators, a figure double that of 2022. Speeding accounted for most of these challans, with nearly 70,000 fines issued. Red light violations came next, followed by fines for talking on mobile phones while driving, which totaled over 10,000 in 2023.

In essence, the Noida Traffic Police is rigorously enforcing traffic rules through a renewed road safety campaign. They are focusing on various violations like speeding, improper parking, wrong-side driving, and more. Additionally, they are implementing stricter measures, including potential license cancellations for repeat offenders, to ensure road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
