Nissan Kicks' Upcoming Generation Will Use An E-Power Hybrid Drivetrain

In preparation for its anticipated global premiere later this year, the next-generation Nissan Kicks has been observed undergoing tests. The tightly camouflaged test mule, supported by Nissan's cutting-edge and modular CMF-B platform, is probably in the last testing phases.

The 2018 Kicks' design is said to be influenced by Nissan's X-Trail and Juke SUVs. There are also rumours that it will have an e-Power hybrid drivetrain. The new Kicks will be based on a more sophisticated and contemporary platform than the previous generation, based on two different platforms depending on the market.

The next-generation Kicks are far more aggressively styled than the current-generation Kicks, despite their extensive concealment. With a two-part grille and a curved front fascia, it features a taller, flatter nose. The rear has a flat tailboard, vertically oriented tail lamps and a windscreen with a severe rake. According to predictions, the upcoming Kicks would get split headlamps like the X-Trial and Juke.

On the CMF-B platform from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, which is also used for a number of other SUVs from Nissan, Renault, and Mitsubishi, the upcoming Nissan Kicks is predicted to be constructed. It is most likely powered by Nissan's e-Power hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-litre gasoline engine with an electric motor and battery. It only functions as a generator while the e-motor powers the wheels. Additionally, it might have typical petrol engines.

Renault-Nissan has disclosed a significant investment in India that will support each company's introduction of two new SUVs by 2025. The platform will be heavily localised, eliminating extraneous parts while maintaining future-proofing. The next-generation Kicks based on this technology are also expected to arrive in India shortly.
