New Mercedes V Class Previewed with Vision V Electric MPV Concept
With the dazzling Vision V concept, Mercedes-Benz introduces the anticipated show vehicle before its public presentation at Auto Shanghai 2025. This bold electric MPV serves as a preview for the next-generation V-Class and a brand-new lineup of battery-powered people movers built on Mercedes' dedicated Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA). This concept makes the expected comeback to the segment that saw the previous V-Class leave the Indian market in 2022, three years after its launch.
Boxed Elegance, though it does come from a boxy architecture, one finds the Vision V concept taking a comparatively flamboyant view than the 2019 Concept EQV. Above a flat plane of polished connected LED headlight clusters sits an illuminated standing Mercedes star contrasted against the jet-black background. Below that are grandiose indications of a closed-off grille bordered and slatted by illumination, with chrome-trimmed air intake slots that enhance its impression of visual width.
The side profile still sports regular front-hinged doors that go well with rear sliding doors for practicality. A futuristic feel is created by large aerodynamically optimized 5-spoke wheels incorporating built-in lighting elements. Massive squared-off LED bars gracing the rear from the tailgate flowing through to the trailing edge of the roof deserve quite a stare. The large glass center panel steals foreground attention behind "Vision V" badges in the background.
Unlike its understated exterior, the four-seat cabin of the Vision V demonstrates Mercedes's vision of luxury mobility of the future. An all-white dashboard sees the extensive Superscreen setup occupying the entire width of the interiors, with three distinct displays integrated along with air conditioning vents.
An absence of a central console under the dashboard implies infinite control within the infotainment system, whereas a unique three-spoke steering wheel would ensure that driver engagement stays paramount. Ambient lights embedded in transparent pocket doors and center armrests add to the ambience.
The private lounge-style second row elevates the premium brand even more. Full recline is achieved in airline-style seats surrounded by customizable ambient lighting to prioritize passenger comfort with white Nappa leather.
Entertainment is plentiful with a retractable 65-inch 4K cinema screen serving as both privacy partition and viewing pleasure, while content is broadcast to the 42-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system.
Passengers control features through a center console touchpad kept on the fold-out table fashioned with a chessboard complete with glass playing pieces.
Mercedes didn't disclose complete technical specifications, but that VAN.EA architecture reveals a lot. The electrical system employs an 800V system, operational in both front- and all-wheel layouts, and the claimed range should be able to stretch to approximately 500km per charge.
