New-gen Kia Carnival launched at Chicago Auto Show, India debut later in 2024

The redesigned fourth-gen Kia Carnival, introduced globally in October 2023, recently made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show. Anticipated to hit the US market this summer, the MPV will be offered in five trims: LX, LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. Besides the base variant, Kia plans to introduce a hybrid version, Carnival HEV, across the other four trims.

Drawing inspiration from the Kia KA4 concept revealed at the previous year's Auto Expo in India, the latest Carnival showcases a significant visual overhaul. Emphasizing the 'Modern Boldness' concept within Kia's design philosophy 'Opposites United,' it deviates slightly from the KA4 concept, featuring a more upright nose, a broad grille with fin-like chrome inserts, and L-shaped headlamps.

The interior of the 2024 Carnival boasts a twin-screen setup with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The dashboard, equipped with controls for HVAC and stereo, features a dual-tone design with ambient lighting. Multiple seat layouts (4, 7, or 9) are available, and certain variants include second-row massage seats. The entertainment system supports over-the-air updates, and notable features encompass an updated digital key, ambient lighting, front and rear dash cameras, a digital rearview mirror, and more.

The safety features include an Advanced Driver Assistance System suite with forward and rear collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision-avoidance assist, rear parking assist, lane assist, and eight airbags. The 2024 Carnival in the USA offers two engine options: a 3.5L V6 naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 287 hp and 352 Nm torque, and a hybrid variant with a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine and a 54 kW electric motor, delivering a combined peak output of 242 hp and 367 Nm torque. The India-bound model is expected to retain the existing 2.2L diesel engine with 197 bhp and 440 Nm peak torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
