A new-generation Citroen C3 will be a classier, modern, and stylish car for this Gen-Z era. It is reported to join its electric sibling revealed late last year. Apart from minor modifications, the new Citroen C3 model has the same appearance as its electric counterpart. It is available with both normal and mild hybrid engine options. India's C3 and the Euro-spec C3 are not the same. Distinct platforms serve as the foundation for both concepts.

Difference in Design

The Euro-spec Citroen C3 Aircross has unique design features above its India-spec equivalent. The sharp C-shaped LED DRLs, the dual-tone paint job, the new Citroen symbol up front, and the advent of an all-electric powertrain option are all visible in the teaser photos. The European version is notable for having front and rear bumpers that resemble the C3 hatchback but have extra cladding to give it a more robust look. Although the tail-lamp design is not yet fully visible, it is expected to have a style similar to the new eC3 hatchback that will be sold in Europe.

Powertrain Changes

Under the eC3 badge, the next C3 Aircross in Europe is expected to make its public debut as an electric car (EV) that most likely shares a powertrain with the eC3 hatchback. It is expected that Citroen will use the same 44kWh battery pack for increased range in the next C3 Aircross. Furthermore, there is a chance that an internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrain will be introduced in the future.

Pricing and Competition

On the other hand, until a mid-life update in the upcoming years, the Citroen C3 Aircross built for India will probably stick with its existing design without adopting the modifications seen in the European model. With a current discount of Rs 1 lakh, the Indian variant is priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 14.27 lakh and goes up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Interestingly, there isn't a clear rival in its segment for the seven-seat Indian model. Based on the C3 Aircross chassis, Citroen is currently testing the Basalt SUV coupe, which should be available in India in the second half of 2024.
