The German Luxury car brand, Mercedes-Benz has announced its plans for the Indian automotive market along with its sales performances. It is reported that it plans to launch around 12 cars, with a focus on top-end models and three new electric vehicles (EVs).
Mercedes revealed its two models that will be the Mercedes-AMG S 63 e-Performance and C 63 S e-Performance, both based on the newest generations and featuring hybrid technology derived from Formula 1.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S e-Performance carries a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine generating 469 horsepower, with an electric motor adding 201 horsepower for 10 seconds, resulting in a total output of 671 horsepower. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz India will also launch an all-new E-Class and three new electric models, including the Maybach EQS, in 2024.

Mercedes-Benz India will likely invest ₹200 crore in its Chakan plant to scale up manufacturing operations and expand the retail footprint with plans for 20 workshops and a presence in 10 new cities, all powered by green energy Mercedes-Benz India commands about 48% market share in India's premium car market, with demand for top-end vehicles contributing around 25% of its sales volume.
Mercedes-Benz India's EV sales trebled in 2023, accounting for 4% of its overall volumes. The company is eyeing 25% of its sales from EVs in the next four years, with a BEV portfolio comprising the EQB SUV, EQE SUV, and EQS sedan.
The debut of the brand-new E-Class is scheduled for this year, according to Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, who made this announcement during the press conference. "The new E-Class LWB will only be available by the end of this year," he continued. Therefore, there might not be an E-Class in our area for a while."
