Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe Breaks Cover

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the CLE in coupe and cabriolet guise, it has been built on the Mercedes-Benz MRA platform that shares components with the latest sixth-gen E-Class and the outgoing C-Class. The CLE engine options include both petrol and diesel options with rear and four-wheel drive configurations.

The CLE 200d gets a rear-wheel drive setup that uses a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 194 bhp of power and 440 Nm of peak torque. The CLE 200 houses a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder, petrol engine that produces 201 bhp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The same engine does duty for the four-wheel drive CLE 300 4Matic churning 254 bhp of power and 400 Nm of peak torque.

The top model CLE 450 4Matic houses a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, petrol engine that makes 374 bhp of power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The company claims a 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.4 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 kmph. All engines come coupled with a nine-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The engines also get 48V mild hybrid punch via a gearbox-mounted electric motor that pushes 22 bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque for a small window of time under acceleration.

The cabin sports a driver-oriented 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 11.9-inch central touchscreen, flat bottom multifunctional steering wheel, heated front seats with lumbar support, with optional ventilation and massage function. Other mentions include 64-colour ambient lighting and a Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos.

The car is 4,850 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,428 mm tall and has a boot capacity of 420 litres. The car runs on 18-inch alloy wheels with optional 20-inch rims. There is no official communication on the CLE making it to the Indian shores.
