Maruti Yet to Deliver Close to 43,000 Units of Ertiga CNG
Maruti Suzuki continues to experience high demand for certain cars in its lineup, particularly those powered by CNG. As of July 2024, the carmaker has approximately 43,000 pending deliveries for the CNG-powered Ertiga. This significant backlog highlights the popularity of CNG models, especially since Maruti does not offer diesel engines in its current range.
The Ertiga CNG is available in VXi (O) and ZXi (O). It is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine produces 102 bhp and 136 Nm of torque in petrol mode. However, when running on CNG, the power output is slightly reduced to 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque.
The Ertiga is one of 12 CNG models offered by Maruti Suzuki, reflecting the company's strategy to cater to the demand for more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. Other CNG models in Maruti's portfolio include:
XL6
Grand Vitara
Brezza
Fronx
Baleno
Dzire
WagonR
Celerio
Eeco
S-Presso
Alto K10
The high demand for CNG models, coupled with supply chain challenges, has contributed to the significant backlog in deliveries. Maruti Suzuki's focus on expanding its CNG offerings is in response to the growing preference for alternative fuels among Indian consumers, driven by both economic and environmental considerations.
Despite these challenges, Maruti Suzuki is committed to fulfilling its pending orders and continuing to provide a wide range of CNG options to meet customer demand.
