Maruti Grand Vitara and Fronx Account for 66 Percent of Nexa SUV, MPV Sales

Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa network has witnessed significant growth, driven primarily by two models: the Grand Vitara and the Fronx. Since the financial year ending in March 2020 (FY20), these two SUVs have consistently dominated Nexa's sales figures, accounting for over 66 percent of the premium network’s total SUV and MPV sales. Other Nexa models include the Jimny, XL6, and Invicto, but none have matched the success of the Grand Vitara and Fronx.

Nexa's Utility Vehicle Success

Together, the Grand Vitara, Fronx, and XL6 account for 5,96,999 units, which is 95.74 percent of Nexa’s total UV sales between April 2020 and August 2024. The sustained demand for these models has helped Maruti’s premium Nexa channel maintain a competitive edge in the highly competitive utility vehicle segment. All three models – Grand Vitara, Fronx, and XL6 – also offer CNG variants, adding further appeal to fuel-conscious buyers.

Nexa's Dominance in the Indian UV Market

Maruti Suzuki, through both its Nexa and Arena dealerships, achieved a record utility vehicle sales figure of 6,42,296 units in FY2024. Nexa accounted for about 50 percent of this total. In the ongoing fiscal year, with seven months still remaining, Maruti Suzuki has retained its position as India’s leading utility vehicle manufacturer, maintaining a 72,968-unit lead over its nearest competitor. This dominance is largely attributed to the Grand Vitara and Fronx, which continue to rank among the Top 10 best-selling SUVs in India. In FY2024, the Fronx was ranked at No. 8, the Grand Vitara at No. 9, and the XL6 at No. 20.

The Grand Vitara and Fronx have proven to be the driving force behind Nexa’s success in the SUV and MPV market. With their combined sales contributing significantly to Maruti Suzuki’s overall UV figures, these two models have secured their place as the top choices for buyers looking for style, performance, and fuel efficiency. As demand for Nexa SUVs continues to surge, Maruti Suzuki looks set to retain its leadership in the UV segment, with no major surprises expected from competitors shortly.
