Mahindra’s off-roader 5-door Thar is slated for August 15: Here are 5 features to note down

Mahindra Thar is 2024’s highly anticipated SUV which is supposed to draw inspiration from Force Grukha and is likely to give solid competition to it as well. The 5-door Thar is in its ready, set, go mode as the unveiling of the SUV is slated for August 15. Thar 5-door Armada will be enhanced with premium features from Mahindra’s flagship, the XUV700. Here are the expected features of the Thar 5-door.

Bigger Infotainment System

One of the significant upgrades in the Thar 5-door is its infotainment system. This new model will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen, making it the largest in its segment, second only to the Scorpio N. This is a considerable improvement from the current Thar 3-door, which has a 7-inch unit. The new infotainment system will come with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mahindra’s connected technology, AdrenoX Connect. This will provide users with a more seamless and connected driving experience.

All-Digital Instrument Cluster

Following the trend of new Mahindra vehicles, the Thar 5-door will boast an all-digital driver’s console. Unlike the Scorpio N, which has a semi-digital instrument cluster, the Thar 5-door will borrow its console from the XUV700. The current Thar 3-door features traditional twin analog dials for the rev meter and speedometer with a TFT multi-information display. The new all-digital cluster will offer a more modern and sophisticated look, providing clear and precise information to the driver.

Enhanced Safety with More Airbags

Safety is a top priority for Mahindra in the new Thar 5-door. The vehicle is expected to come with six airbags as a standard feature, a significant improvement from the current Thar, which has two airbags. The 3-door version of the Thar has already received a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP, scoring well for both adult and child occupant safety. With the addition of more airbags, the Thar 5-door aims to provide even better protection for its occupants.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

Mahindra is likely to equip the Thar 5-door with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a feature already present in the XUV700. The ADAS suite will include features such as Smart Pilot Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition. These features will enhance driving safety and convenience, making the Thar 5-door more appealing to tech-savvy buyers looking for advanced safety technologies.

Dual-Zone Climate Control

The new Thar 5-door is expected to come with dual-zone climate control, a feature that allows the driver and front passenger to set different temperatures according to their preferences. This feature was first introduced in the Mahindra XUV300 in 2019 and is now available in the XUV700 and the electric XUV400. The inclusion of dual-zone climate control in the Thar 5-door will ensure a more comfortable ride for all passengers, especially on long journeys.

Overall, The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door promises to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor, bringing in a host of new features and improvements. From a larger infotainment system and an all-digital instrument cluster to enhanced safety features and advanced driver assistance systems, the Thar 5-door aims to offer a more modern, comfortable, and safe driving experience. Additionally, the dual-zone climate control will add to the comfort and convenience of the passengers. If you’re in the market for a rugged and feature-packed off-roader, it might be worth waiting for the Thar 5-door's launch on August 15.
