Mahindra Scorpio N Series Expands with Budget-Friendly Z8 Select Variant

Mahindra has recently expanded its Scorpio N SUV lineup, injecting more diversity into its offerings with the introduction of the Z8 Select variant. Geared towards offering prospective buyers a mid-range option, this new addition positions itself between the standard Z8 and Z6 models, creating a balanced choice for consumers who prioritize a blend of affordability and essential features.

Scheduled to hit Mahindra dealerships starting from March 1, the Z8 Select variant carries a distinct advantage in terms of pricing. Priced at Rs 16.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it stands as a more budget-friendly choice, being approximately Rs 1.11 lakh to Rs 1.65 lakh less expensive than its Z8 counterparts. This strategic pricing approach aims to resonate with consumers seeking a harmonious balance between budget considerations and the desired functionalities in an SUV.

Despite its more accessible pricing, the Z8 Select maintains a commendable roster of key features. It provides consumers with the flexibility to choose between two engine options: the 203hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine or the 175hp, 2.2-liter diesel engine. Both engine variants come paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox, offering consumers the freedom to select a transmission option that aligns with their preferences.

It's worth noting that while the Z8 Select grants versatility in engine and transmission choices, it does not come with the 4WD (four-wheel drive) option. This deliberate omission responds to the understanding that certain consumers may prioritize a more budget-friendly option without requiring the enhanced capabilities of a four-wheel drive system.

Adding a touch of sophistication to its design, the Z8 Select introduces a new 'Midnight Black' exterior color, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The features of the Z8 Select closely mirror those of the Z8 variant, encompassing elements such as 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED lighting, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, rear disc brakes, six airbags, and electronic stability control (ESC).

However, certain features available in the Z8 variant are omitted in the Z8 Select, including push-button start, a tire pressure monitor, dual-zone climate control, power folding wing mirrors, automatic headlights, and wipers. These exclusions are strategic choices aimed at maintaining a balance between affordability and features.

Positioning itself as a mid-range variant, the Scorpio N Z8 Select aims to cater to a market segment where cost considerations play a pivotal role in purchasing decisions. With the flexibility to choose between petrol and diesel engines, Mahindra ensures that the Scorpio N Z8 Select becomes an inclusive option appealing to a diverse range of consumers.

Mahindra's decision to introduce the Z8 Select aligns with its commitment to offering a diverse portfolio within the Scorpio N lineup. As the Scorpio N series continues to expand, the Z8 Select emerges as a compelling option for SUV enthusiasts, seamlessly blending affordability with the distinctive design, performance, and features that define the Scorpio N series. As it graces Mahindra dealerships from March 1 onwards, the Z8 Select is poised to make its mark in the competitive SUV market, offering consumers a nuanced choice within the Scorpio N lineup.
