Mahindra Scorpio-N Receives Five-Star Crash Test Rating In a recent assessment conducted by the Global NCAP, the Mahindra Scorpio-N has become the first Indian SUV to receive a five-star crash test rating. The Scorpio-N scored 29.25 points out of a possible 34 points in adult occupant protection and three stars with a score of 28.93 points out of a possible 49 points in child protection. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Swift were also crash tested by Global NCAP under the Safer Cars for India campaign. Both cars received a one-star rating. The Ignis scored 16.59 points out of a possible 17 points in adult occupant protection and two stars with a score of 24.35 points out of a possible 49 points in child protection. The Swift scored 16.42 points out of a possible 17 points in adult occupant protection and two stars with a score of 24.09 points out of a possible 49 points in child protection. All three cars have been crash tested earlier as well, but this time around they were tested under more stringent rules and norms. Maruti Suzuki Introduces India's First Mass Segment Flex-Fuel Car Maruti Suzuki India has showcased the WagonR Flex-Fuel prototype model in Delhi. The WagonR Flex-Fuel is India's first mass segment flex-fuel car that can run on an ethanol-petrol blend between 20 and 85%. To make the engine compatible with high ethanol blends, new fuel system technologies like the heated fuel rail for cold start assist and ethanol sensor for ethanol percentage detection have been designed. Components like the engine management system, upgraded fuel pump, and fuel injector, among others, have been developed along with upgradation of other mechanical components to ensure engine as well as vehicle durability. The WagonR Flex-Fuel is expected to be launched in India in the next few years.
