Mahindra Scorpio N received a zero-star rating by Australasian NCAP
Under the recently released Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) test, the Mahindra Scorpio N received a 0-star rating, even after receiving a 5-star rating from the Global NCAP. The reason for this is the different criteria and testing processes that make the ANCAP much more critical and hard to pass.
Compared to India's GNCAP, ANCAP has four contrasting features, such as Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assists.
The Scorpio N scored a total of 44% in Adult Occupant Protection, 80% in Child Occupant Protection, 23% in Vulnerable Road User Protection and 0% in Safety Assist.
The difficult crash test includes an off-set frontal as well as a full-width frontal crash at 50kph, a side impact test at 60kph and an oblique pole test at 32 kph.
Hence, even though the Scorpio N is sold vastly in India and Australia, given the distinct testing methods and protocols of the two countries. Regardless, we can conclude that companies should manufacture cars keeping in mind all the safety protocols, and testing methods of different countries.
