Mahindra Introduces Entry-Level XUV700 Diesel 7-Seater Starting at Rs 15 Lakh

Mahindra is expanding accessibility to its XUV700 lineup by launching the seven-seat variant in the entry-level MX trim. Priced at Rs 15 lakh for the diesel engine option, the XUV700 MX 7-seater comes as an affordable alternative, undercutting its AX3 7-seater counterpart by Rs 3 lakh. Retaining the mechanical prowess and features of its five-seater counterpart, the new three-row configuration promises a compelling package for SUV enthusiasts.

Compared to the XUV700 MX 5-seater equipped with the 2.2-litre diesel engine, priced at Rs 14.60 lakh, the seven-seat version commands a slight premium of Rs 40,000. Despite the marginal increase in price, the MX 7-seater inherits all the essential equipment found in its two-row counterpart. Highlights include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Android Auto, four speakers, a 7-inch MID with analogue dials, multiple USB ports, tilt-adjustable steering, a center armrest with storage, adjustable headrests for all passengers, follow-me-home headlamps, powered ORVMs, and ISOFIX anchors.

Additionally, it is anticipated to feature third-row AC vents, a second row with a center armrest, and a 60:40 one-touch tumble function, akin to other seven-seat trims. The color palette, comprising Everest white, Midnight black, Dazzling red, Red rage, and Napoli Black, is expected to remain consistent with the MX trim.

Under the hood, the XUV700 MX 7-seater mirrors the specifications of its 5-seater counterpart. Both variants are powered by the same 156hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated exclusively to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Given the MX 5-seater's availability with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and 6-speed manual transmission, a similar option is speculated for the 7-seater variant.

With the introduction of this entry-level trim, Mahindra aims to strike a balance between affordability and premium offerings within the XUV700 range. Concurrently, the SUV specialist has recently introduced the higher-spec XUV700 Blaze variant, further enhancing the lineup's appeal.

Notably, Mahindra's strategic move positions the starting prices of its large three-row SUV below competitors such as the Tata Safari (Rs 16.19 lakh) and the seven-seat diesel iteration of the MG Hector Plus (Rs 17 lakh), consolidating its competitive stance in the market.
