In anticipation of the Mahindra XUV400 EV's upcoming equipment upgrade in early 2024, a leaked internal document has spilt the beans on the new features awaiting this electric SUV. Two new trims, EC Pro and EL Pro, are set to debut, featuring standout enhancements, with a prominent inclusion being dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster.

The document suggests that the higher-spec EL Pro trim will showcase a major technological overhaul, boasting a new 10.25-inch screen running Mahindra's Adrenox software. In addition, it will sport a fully digital instrument cluster of the same size, replacing the current analog-digital combination. Although this signals a significant dashboard redesign, spy shots indicate a departure from the twin-connected screens seen in the XUV700.

Beyond the visual enhancements, the EL Pro trim is slated to receive practical additions such as dual-zone climate control with a memory function, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa connectivity, rear USB ports, and rear AC vents—addressing some previous shortcomings of the XUV400. The all-black dashboard will give way to a new dual-tone finish, accompanied by a stylish flat-bottomed steering wheel.

However, despite these feature-rich upgrades, the leaked document suggests that the XUV400 EV won't undergo major cosmetic changes akin to the XUV300 facelift expected in early 2024. While there may be minor updates, the overall design is likely to stay consistent.

On the mechanical front, the leaked details indicate no significant updates. The EC Pro variant will retain the 34.5kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 375km, while the EL Pro will feature the larger 39.4kWh battery with a claimed range of 456km—both measured on the MIDC cycle. Although there will be no changes to the powertrain, Mahindra may standardize the faster 7.2kW AC charger for both variants.

Both EC Pro and EL Pro variants will continue to be equipped with a front axle-mounted electric motor generating 150hp and 310Nm of torque. The electric SUV will maintain features like disc brakes on all four wheels, regenerative braking, and three drive modes.

These anticipated upgrades position the XUV400 EV to compete more fiercely with rivals, particularly against the recently facelifted Tata Nexon EV. As improvements come to light, consumers should also brace for a potential uptick in prices, reflecting the enhanced features and technology embedded in Mahindra's upgraded electric offering.
