Kia has finally launched its much anticipated car, Sonet facelift in India.
The new exterior comprises the larger LED headlights, LED daytime running highlights, redesigned skid plates for the new bumper, and horizontally mounted LED fog lights. The Sonet also has a new design of 16 inch wheels.
Apart from that, the LED light bar at the rear, new bumper, roof mounted spoiler are some other features of this new model. The shade ranges around 8 monotones including two dual tones and one matte tone with the Pewter Olive being an addition to the previous shade options.
The interior features include the new 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster inspired from the SUV Seltos. Alongside, a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment is installed in a new fashion. Below this the new screen to display climate control along with two rows of toggles for HVAC controls is also installed. The Sonet has also been given a new hostelry for the seats.
Talking about features, the Level 1 ADAS like on the Hyundai Venue stands out the most. Apart from that, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance assistance and warning, high beam assist, lane keeping assist, six airbags, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system are some of the many features the SUV has.
The ESC are standard across all trims, and the higher trims get cornering lamps, four-way powered driver's seat and a 360-degree camera with blind-view monitor. There are five upholstery shades available including a new dual black and brown one. Apart from that, the Sonet will also consist of cooled front seats, leatherette upholstery, a Bose audio system, sunroof and LED ambient lighting.
The Powertrain options remain unchanged which means 83hp, 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine, 5 speed manual gearbox; a 120hp, 1.0 litre, three cylinder turbo petrol engine; and a 116hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine are some of the Powertrain options.
The 6 speed manual gearbox has been reintroduced to the SUV even though the turbo-petrol and diesel engines remain the same. Alongside, a 7- speed dual clutch have been given to the turbo petrol engine and a 6- speed torque converter automatic options have been introduced to the diesel engine.
The Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line variants are further divided into trims such as, HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX and X-Line. The 1.0 turbo-petrol and 1.5 diesel are spread across all the three trims and the 1.2 litre petrol engine is available for HTE, HTK and HTK+ trims. The automatic gearboxes for both these engines are limited to the top-spec HTX+, GTX and X-Line trims.
The bookings for Kia Facelift Sonet will start December 20th onwards, and depending on the advanc interior, exterior, and engine, the price will be more than the last facelift Sonet model that ranges between 7.79 Lakh to 14.89 Lakh.
Kia Sonet facelift will compete with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and other compact SUVs.
