Kia Seltos Global debut: gets more features

The next generation of Seltos is about to be unveiled to the world by the South Korean multinational manufacturer, and testing of the vehicle has already started. The next-generation Kia Seltos was sighted in India while being tested, and images of it have since circulated online.

The Seltos, Kia's debut offering in India, will get a makeover in this country by January 2023.

Price

The KIA Seltos pricing is more than the present equivalent, which ranges from Rs 9.95 to Rs 18.10 lakhs. The new price might vary between Rs10.19 and Rs18.45 lakh.

Exterior

Compared to the previous model, the facelifted Kia Seltos SUV seems more elegant and classy. The modified Seltos receives design improvements that link it with more stylish Kia SUVs such as the Sportage and the updated Telluride that are marketed abroad. Starting at the front, the 2022 Kia Seltos SUV now features a new set of updated LED headlights, a more comprehensive and more angular front grille, a revamped front bumper, new skid plates, and a new set of LED fog lights.

Interior

The interior of the SUV has been significantly upgraded. New upholstery in a new colour scheme will be included in cabin renovations. One is all-black, while the other has a brown and black dual-tone finish.

One of the most striking changes is the new panoramic dash design, which features a fully digital instrument dashboard and a prominent touchscreen infotainment system. It also has a fully digital instrument cluster and improved UVO-connected vehicle technology.

The Seltos upgrade would likely feature all-digital technology, but the most significant change will be the Level-1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Official Seltos images published today show the presence of a RADAR module to aid ADAS functionality.

Engine and transmission

Three engine choices are available for the Kia Seltos. A 1.5-litre diesel, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre normally aspirated petrol engine are currently available. There are no plans to make any significant engine modifications to the India-bound Seltos.

Depending on the engine used, these transmissions can be a six-speed manual, a seven-speed DCT automatic, or a six-speed torque converter automatic. The Seltos diesel iMT, which Kia just unveiled, is currently the only diesel iMT available nationwide.

Safety

With six airbags available as standard across all models, much like with the new Carens, Kia Motors will likewise increase the safety factor of the new Seltos with other technologies like electronic stability control (ESC), keyless enter and go, and hill-assist control (HAC).

The new KIA Seltos facelift, which will compete with the next Hyundai Creta, has the same engine options. In addition, the Creta, which is also in need of a facelift, and two new midsize SUVs Urban Cruiser Hyryder Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector, and the Tata Harrier in India, will be fierce competitors for the Seltos facelift.
