Kia India is also ready to shake up the MPV segment by launching the Carens Clavis EV on July 15, 2025. The long-anticipated electric MPV shall be the first mass-market EV in the Indian market by Kia and directly competes against the BYD eMax 7, which is the only other electric MPV in the Indian market.
The Carens Clavis EV should trace the specification of the Hyundai Creta Electric with the two battery pack versions, 42kWh and 51.4kWh, on a single front-mounted electric motor. The output and motor specs are expected to be common with the Creta Electric, but due to the increased size of the Carens Clavis EV, it is indeed possible that driving range figures might be slightly lower, as with an approximate figure of 390-470km, the range figures are still on the cards.
An updated suspension system that will be fitted on the EV will also be offered in order to absorb the more weighty battery packs with an eye on offering comfort to occupants and stability as well.
With the exception that it will be considerably different in the engine department, the Carens Clavis EV will be quite similar to its ICE counterpart.
The bumpers are likely to be updated, alloy wheels are to be optimised in the aerodynamic style, and perhaps the grille is about to be updated. Peculiarities such as LED ice cube headlights and a full-width LED light bar in the rear are also probably going to stay.
The Kia will not do a redesign of the inside, so the Carens Clavis EV will also have the dual-screen design- a 12.3-inch infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
It is also probably to provide the following features:
Vented front seats
Panoramic sunroof
Wireless Apple CarPlay
Android Auto
High-end Bose sound system
4-way powered Driver seat
Air Purifier for cabin
Wireless charging
In terms of safety, the electric MPV will be on the safety side, being well endowed with 6 airbags, disc brakes front and rear, ESC, hill assist and vehicle stability management. More basic trims can even receive Level 2 ADAS and have options such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
Set to launch on July 15, the Kia Carens Clavis EV will be a real game-changer in the budding electric vehicle industry of India.
