  • JSW Motors is scheduled to enter India's passenger vehicle market with its first SUV on December 4, 2026.

  • The expected JSW Combat is based on Chery's Jetour T2 and is reported to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with an initial CBU import plan.

JSW Motors will debut its first SUV for India on December 4, 2026, marking its entry into the passenger vehicle market as a standalone brand. The upcoming model is expected to be called the JSW Combat and will be based on the Chery Jetour T2 SUV from China.

The model was initially expected to arrive before Diwali but has been delayed to December. It is expected to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), with production facilities being developed at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

JSW Combat SUV: Design and Dimensions

The JSW Combat is based on the globally acclaimed Jetour T2 from China’s Chery Automobile. Visually, the SUV commands serious road presence through an upright, boxy stance reminiscent of classic off-roaders.

  • Dimensions: Measures 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,880 mm in height, riding on a 2,800 mm wheelbase.

  • Ground Clearance and Wheels: The international Jetour T2 has 220 mm of ground clearance and is reported to feature 20-inch alloy wheels.

  • Seating and Boot Space: The international Jetour T2 has five seats and a reported boot capacity of 752 litres.

  • Styling Changes: The India-spec model is expected to use COMBAT lettering in place of the JETOUR branding. Industry reports suggest that India could receive the pre-facelift version.

Expected Interior Features

The JSW Combat is expected to carry over much of the Jetour T2's cabin layout. Reported features include a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, powered front seats and driver-seat memory.

Other expected equipment includes ventilated seats, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a 540-degree camera system and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The final feature list for India is yet to be confirmed.

Expected Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The JSW Combat is expected to use a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain:

  • Engine & Motors: A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an 18.4 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors.

  • Output: A combined output of 360 bhp and 610 Nm of torque, channelled through a dedicated 3-speed transmission.

  • Range: The reported electric-only range is around 90 km, while the combined range is estimated at up to 1,100 km with a full tank and charged battery.

Looking Ahead

The Combat SUV is expected to arrive initially as a completely built unit (CBU). Other models mentioned in reports include the Jaecoo J5, Jaecoo J7 and iCar V23, which have reportedly been spotted on Indian roads. Plans for local assembly or manufacturing of these models have not been confirmed.
