Jaguar Land Rover witnessed an 81% YoY surge in sales: Best Sales Numbers in the last 5 years

The financial year 2023-2024 has already ended and all automobile industry sales statements have been released. The sales number has come as a bolt from the blue. Following this, Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has released its FY statement and sales numbers that reported a significant increase in sales, with a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 81%. The luxury brand dispatched 4,436 units during this period, which ended in March 2024.

Model-wise Sales Performance

The Land Rover models were the stars of the show, with the new Land Rover Range Rover flagship SUV and the Land Rover Defender experiencing a YoY retail sales growth of 160% and 120%, respectively. The 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque also saw impressive growth, with 50% and 55% YoY demand increases, respectively.

Jaguar Land Rover's India Performance in FY23-24

While Jaguar's performance in India was relatively quiet in FY23-24, Land Rover introduced several new launches and updates to its India-spec models. The facelifted Velar was launched in July 2023, followed by the V8 variants of the Range Rover Sport in December 2023. Current Jaguar and Land Rover Models in India

Jaguar currently offers three models in India, priced between Rs 72.90 lakh and Rs 1.56 crore, with the F-Type sports coupe likely to be discontinued soon. Land Rover provides more than five SUVs in India, including its Range Rover models, priced between Rs 67.90 lakh and Rs 4.47 crore

JLR's Supply Chain Improvements

JLR attributes its sales growth to improved supply, with wholesale volumes, excluding the Chery Jaguar Land Rover China joint venture, increasing by 29% to 96,817 units compared to the same quarter last year. Retail sales, including the Chery JV, were up 21% since Q2 last year to 106,561 units. The OEM has been implementing software to improve supply chain visibility and strengthen supply, including partnerships with predictive insights firm Everstream Analytics and Tata Technologies.
