Ford Will Introduce An Electric SUV Based On The MEB: The Capri

Ford plans to bring back the Capri moniker with its future electric SUV, which will be built on Volkswagen's MEB chassis. The Explorer EV, built on the same platform and will soon be sold in Europe, will be released before the Capri EV, which will largely target the European market.

The original Capri sports coupe, which was well-liked in Europe from 1968 until 1986, inspired Ford's upcoming all-new Capri EV SUV, which will go on sale in 2019. Yet, the new Capri EV SUV will have a contemporary and fresh look because it is a member of Ford's new line of customised EVs sold under the Adventure Spirit brand. The Explorer EV, the first vehicle in this line, also boasts a distinctive design that doesn't draw inspiration from earlier Ford, inside and out models.

The next Ford Capri EV SUV will have four doors and a higher-riding style to fit its role as a family crossover. It is expected to include features comparable to the Explorer EVs, such as a top range of over 482km and up to 339hp. In the weeks leading up to the Capri's global premiere early next year, further information is anticipated to be made public. Ford's plans for the Indian market, however, are still unknown as the business just left the nation due to weak sales, and there is no word on the timing of the country's introduction of fully imported EVs like the Mustang Mach E.
