Ford Mustang to Get Rugged and Four-Door Versions
Ford is expanding the Mustang lineup by introducing new iterations of its iconic sports car. With the Chevrolet Camaro exiting the market, Ford is seizing the opportunity to diversify the Mustang range, including a rugged off-road version and a much-anticipated four-door model.
At a recent dealer meeting in Las Vegas, Ford unveiled a mock-up of the four-door Mustang, which may be named the Mustang Mach 4 upon its debut. The idea of a four-door Mustang has been teased since 2022, with Ford hinting at this body style through sketches and comments from CEO Jim Farley. The brand is committed to ensuring that the four-door version retains the performance and attitude that defines the Mustang.
In addition to the four-door model, Ford also presented a rugged Mustang with large tires, suggesting off-road capability. This new variant may feature all-wheel drive (AWD) technology, inspired by the success of off-road sports cars like the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.
Ford's strategy is to cater to a wider audience by offering varied Mustang models at different price points. While no specific launch dates have been provided, these new Mustangs are expected to debut soon, positioning the brand to capture more market share in the performance car segment.
In India, the Mustang has a history, with the sixth-gen model launched in 2016. However, the facelifted version did not make it to India due to Ford's exit from the market in 2021. Now, Ford is eyeing a comeback with the all-new Everest SUV, raising hopes for the return of the Mustang in the country.
The introduction of the rugged and four-door versions of the Ford Mustang marks an exciting new chapter for the iconic car. With these upcoming models, Ford aims to appeal to a broader range of customers while staying true to the Mustang’s legacy of performance and style.
