Do you desire a Mercedes G-Wagon but cannot afford it? Here’s how you make it on your own.

The Automotive World is truly not for the beginners. Either it’s unrealistic customization or is it now the conversion of one car into another? Maruti has been offering the Jimny in international markets for quite some time and This SUV has often been compared to a compact version of the iconic Mercedes Benz G-Wagon due to its design. Many gearheads around the world have taken to transforming their Jimnys into G-Wagen lookalikes using body kits. Recently, one such transformation took place in India, and it was showcased in a YouTube video. Let’s find out more in detail:

The Exterior Transformation

The video begins with cinematic shots of the modified Jimny, which now closely resembles a G-Wagen. The transformation starts with significant changes to the front of the vehicle. The grille, bumper, and hood have all been replaced to match the G-Wagen’s look. Additionally, the headlights have been swapped out for aftermarket units featuring round daytime running lights (DRLs), similar to those on the G-Wagen. These parts are all included in the Jimny-to-G-Wagen conversion kit.

One of the signature features of the G-Wagen, the hood-mounted indicators, has also been added. Roof lights have been installed, enhancing both the functionality and the visual appeal of the SUV.

Side and Rear Profile

On the side, the most noticeable change is the new set of 20-inch alloy wheels, which are designed to resemble those of the sportier G63 AMG version of the G-Wagen. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) have also been replaced as part of the kit.

The rear profile of the Jimny remains mostly stock, with the primary changes being aftermarket tail lights and a roof-mounted spoiler. This particular Jimny sports a dual-tone color scheme, with a red body and a black roof.

Interior Modifications

Inside the vehicle, the modifications are more subtle. The steering wheel logo has been replaced with a Mercedes logo, giving a nod to the G-Wagen inspiration. The interior theme has been updated to cream with glossy black elements, and the roof liner has been changed to black. The air conditioning vents have been swapped out for AMG-style vents, a popular modification seen in other vehicles like the Mahindra Thar.

The seat covers follow the new theme, featuring a Brabus logo on the headrests. Ambient lighting has been added in various places to enhance the interior’s ambiance.

The Workshop and Cost

The modification was carried out in Chandigarh, but the video does not mention the name of the workshop responsible for the transformation. Additionally, the owner of the car was not available during the shoot, so the cost of the modification remains unknown.
