Delhi Lok Adalat on May 10: Resolve Pending Traffic Challans Easily

The National Lok Adalat will be held by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority with the Delhi Traffic Police on May 10, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM, in seven court complexes. The concept behind this mass gathering is to usher in a quick and simple process of law for the settlement of 1.8 lakh pending traffic challans issued till January 31, 2025.

The Lok Adalat will be held at the following court complexes: Dwarka, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Rohini, Rouse Avenue, Saket, and Tis Hazari. There are 180 benches in total, each bench being able to deal with 1000 cases.

Challan Limits for Vehicle Owners

The following are limits set for the DSLSA participants:

  • A private vehicle owner may settle, in one go, a maximum of 7 challans or notices (5 notices and 2 challans).

  • A commercial vehicle owner may settle only 2 notices/challans.

Only compoundable offences will be taken up and the case must appear on the Delhi Traffic Police Portal.

A Brief How to Enter: Downloads generated from May 5

Vehicle owners can download and print the challans from May 5, 10 AM onwards, using the E Challan platform. A daily cap of 60,000 challans shall be set, with a cumulative cap of 1.8 lakhs.

Online checks for case eligibility must be conducted using the Delhi Challan Status. Carrying printed challans to the court will be necessary for participants, as no printouts shall be provided at the venue.

Why This Matters

This way, Lok Adalat helps sort out matters of a legal nature at the earliest, thus cutting down on case backlogs and sidestepping the long procedural route in courts. This initiative spells transparency for the people of Delhi and helps traffic law compliance to be more accessible.
