At CES 2026, BMW unveiled its next-generation iX3 electric SUV, which boasts cutting-edge AI technologies and a revolutionary range.
Modern eDrive technology, lightning-fast charging, and an Alexa+ AI-powered voice assistant for natural interaction are all features of the iX3.
Sixth-generation eDrive technology enables significant improvements in performance and efficiency with BMW's new iX3 50 xDrive. With 345 kW (469 horsepower) and 645 Nm of torque produced by the dual-motor arrangement, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 210 km/h. With a remarkable WLTP range of up to 805 km on a single charge, its 108.7 kWh high-voltage battery places it among the best in its class.
Additionally, the iX3 uses an 800-volt electrical architecture that enables 400 kW of DC fast charging. This indicates that at suitable stations, you may add up to 372 km of range in about ten minutes, and a 10%–80% charge takes about twenty-one minutes.
Beyond just driving, the SUV's bidirectional charging capacity allows it to power houses, other gadgets, or even feed electricity back into the grid.
The sophisticated AI-powered voice assistant on the new iX3 is one of its most talked-about features. Amazon Alexa+ AI has improved the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant for the first time in a BMW, enabling natural, conversational dialogue.
The system, which is based on a huge language model, can respond to queries on both general knowledge and vehicle functions, comprehend context, and manage numerous questions in a single command, just like a genuine assistant.
This intelligent assistant integrates digital displays and tactile controls for easy operation under BMW's Panoramic iDrive interface on Operating System X. In addition to vehicle management, the iX3's infotainment environment offers in-car gaming like AirConsole, video conversations via Zoom while parked, and streaming services like Disney+ and YouTube Music.
The iX3 feels more effective thanks to the new electronic technologies BMW installed under the hood. Sharper responsiveness and more efficient energy utilization are the results of the so-called Heart of Joy control unit's far faster coordination of powertrain, energy recovery, and driving dynamics. Hands-free driving at highway speeds is one example of advanced driver assistance that demonstrates how technology is changing the driving experience.
In addition to showcasing BMW's advancements in electric mobility, the iX3's launch heralds a new era for performance EVs with intelligent connectivity by showcasing technology that will be included in a number of upcoming vehicles built on the Neue Klasse architecture.
