The new Audi SQ8 is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 500bhp, with a 0 to 100kmph sprint time of just 4.1 seconds
Official pricing and the India unveil are both scheduled for March 17, 2026, with bookings now open at a token amount of Rs. 5 lakh
Audi India has officially commenced bookings for the new SQ8, with the unveiling and price announcement confirmed for March 17, 2026. Prospective buyers can reserve their unit by placing a booking amount of Rs. 5 lakh ahead of the March 17 launch. The car is estimated to be priced somewhere between Rs. 1.50 and 2.00 crore, though official figures will only be announced on launch day.
Positioned above the standard Q8 in Audi's India lineup, the SQ8 is engineered to deliver serious on-road performance without asking its driver to sacrifice the everyday luxury and refinement the brand is known for. It is, in every sense, the Q8 taken to its sporting extreme.
The SQ8 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This is the same fundamental unit found in the RS Q8 Performance, where it produces 648bhp and 850Nm.
In the SQ8, outputs are tuned to 500bhp and 770Nm of torque. Drive is distributed to all four wheels via Audi's renowned Quattro all-wheel-drive system, enabling a claimed 0 to 100kmph time of just 4.1 seconds. For a full-size luxury SUV, that figure is nothing short of remarkable.
Audi has ensured the SQ8 carries a visually distinct identity rather than simply wearing performance badges on an otherwise unchanged body. The exterior receives a matte silver finish across multiple design elements, Matrix LED headlamps, larger alloy wheels with a freshly designed spoke pattern, and quad-tip exhausts at the rear. That last detail, in particular, leaves absolutely no doubt about the performance intent of this SUV.
While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the sum of these visual changes gives the SQ8 a noticeably more aggressive and purposeful road presence compared to its standard sibling. The matte silver accents and quad exhausts do much of the heavy lifting in setting the two apart at a glance.
Inside, the SQ8 brings a well-equipped and sport-accented cabin. The centrepiece is a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays, complemented by S-line interior inserts, dedicated instrument cluster graphics, a head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof.
The overall feel is one of deliberate sportiness layered over a foundation of premium luxury, which is exactly what the SQ8 is meant to represent.
The Indian luxury SUV segment has been growing steadily, and Audi's choice to introduce a performance-focused variant like the SQ8 reflects the increasing confidence in this market.
The SQ8 does not require buyers to compromise between daily usability and outright performance. A twin-turbo V8, Quattro all-wheel-drive, and a premium technology-laden interior all come bundled into one package. With the March 17 launch now just days away, the only question remaining is the price Audi chooses to put on all of it.
