Maruti Suzuki, one of the largest car manufacturers in India, has announced that it will be debuting two new SUVs and one EV at the Auto Expo 2023.
The names of the SUVs are yet to be revealed, but it looks like it is most likely to be the five-door version of the Suzuki Jimny, which has been spotted numerous times in India, whereas the second model is supposed to be a subcompact SUV. The electric vehicle car is expected to be the YY8, which will make a road debut in 2025 and deliver a range of 500 km on a single charge.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, says, “For Over 4 decades, Maruti Suzuki has been consistently bringing the joy of mobility to customers through industry-defining products and technologies. Auto Expo’23 is yet another opportunity for us to showcase our commitment towards the future of mobility through our range of sustainable & technology driven products.”
“Our showcases at Auto Expo’23 will highlight Maruti Suzuki’s commitment towards cleaner, greener, sustainable and carbon neutral offerings for tomorrow. We are confident that our range of all-new SUVs, futuristic Concept EV, Hybrid, flex-fuel prototype and products will capture the imagination of enthusiasts,” he further added.
Besides this, the company will also showcase a customized range of existing models like Ciaz, Vitara, Ertiga, Baleno, XL6, and Swift. The auto expo will take place on January 11 and 12 at the India Expo Mart in Noida.
Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava questioned the Global NCAP after poor rating scores of some of its leading models, Ignis, S-Presso, and Swift.
RC Bhargava said that component manufacturers back the GNCAP, and these agencies do not understand the safety concerns. He said that NCAP is not concerned about the cause of accidents, and it is important to reduce the number of fatalities.
The Maruti Suzuki Chairman, RC Bhargava, said, “I always say with complete confidence that putting an NCAP standard into cars in India will have no significant impact on the number of accidents at all. Prevention is far better than cure.”
There’s a very rigorous programme of training and testing before a person is certified to get a license. There’s no such thing in India. Driver error is a major cause of accidents in India.” he said.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), India recorded around 1.3 Lakh road fatalities, whereas it was 80,888 fatalities in 2001. Since then, the number has only increased, and 1.5 lakh people have been killed during road accidents in India in 2021, whereas 4 lakh accidents were reported last year.
Ducati India has recently announced to increase in the prices of its entire range of motorcycles in India from January 1, 2023.
However, the company has not disclosed the reason behind the hike in the price but stated it has an absorbing cost owing to a substantial increase in production, logistics, and raw materials costs.
The new prices will apply to all the models and variants regardless of their dealership location in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
The company is going to introduce its most-anticipated motorcycle range, which are the Diavel V4, the Panigale V4 R, the Multistrada V4 Rally, and the Streetfighter V4, along with other new models, which are the Monster SP, the Streetfighter V4, Lamborghini, and the all-new Scrambler 2G, with variants such as the Nightshift, the Full Throttle, and the Icon.
