As we approach the much-anticipated launch of the Mahindra Thar Roxx on this Independence Day, Mahindra continues to release teasers, revealing exciting design details and features of this extended off-road SUV. The latest teaser provides a glimpse into some of the advanced features that will be included in the Thar Roxx.
The recent teaser video showcases a set of buttons on the console, one of which confirms that the Thar Roxx will come equipped with ventilated front seats—a first for the Thar lineup. The other two buttons are dedicated to hill descent control and an electrically actuated rear differential lock. Hill descent control is a feature that helps maintain a constant speed when driving down steep inclines, ensuring stability and safety. The rear differential lock, on the other hand, locks the rear wheels on the same axle, allowing them to spin at the same speed. This feature is particularly useful for gaining traction on uneven terrain, making it easier to navigate challenging off-road conditions.
In addition to the ventilated seats, Mahindra has already teased several other features that will likely be included in the Thar Roxx. These include:
A large touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver’s display, both expected to be 10.25-inch units.
Automatic climate control (AC) for enhanced cabin comfort.
A premium Harman Kardon sound system for an immersive audio experience.
A panoramic sunroof that adds to the vehicle's spacious feel.
On the safety front, the Thar Roxx is expected to be well-equipped, featuring:
Six airbags for comprehensive occupant protection.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) for better handling.
A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to ensure optimal tyre performance.
Hill hold and descent control for better off-road driving.
A 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility and easier parking.
Mahindra may also introduce Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the Thar Roxx, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking—features that are already available in the Mahindra XUV700 and XUV 3XO.
The Thar Roxx is likely to feature the same powertrain options as the standard Thar, albeit with potential enhancements for better performance. The expected engine options include:
A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
A 2.2-litre diesel engine.
Both engines are expected to come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices, with options for both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to be priced starting from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete directly with the Force Gurkha 5-door while offering a larger alternative to the Maruti Jimny.
