2026 Volvo XC70 Plug-In Hybrid Launched with 1,200km Range
The 2026 Volvo XC70 has revealed itself to the world and is a special moment for the Swedish brand. Not only is this the premium estate SUV in the range, but it is also Volvo's first plug-in hybrid.
With the aim of helping customers transition into electric mobility, the XC70 is a hybrid of petrol and electric power to provide convenience and good range.
Based on Volvo's Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA), the XC70 introduces a petrol engine and an electric motor, to provide a total range of while driving over 1,200km.
For everyday use, its battery can fast charge and be charged to 80 percent in 23 minutes. In addition to everyday use, the model adopts bi-directional charging, allowing it to power external electrical systems, like camping gadgets or household appliances.
Whereas previous XC models held the estate silhouette with a wagon, the new XC70 pushes this even further into happy SUV territory. There is a closed front grille with active shutters, smooth aerodynamics, and bold C-shaped tail lamps integrated into the rear glass. The design is an amalgamation of classic Volvo practicality and modernised design language.
Enter the XC70, and the blend of luxury and tech is clearly evident. It comes with a 15.4-inch central touchscreen as standard, and a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
For those looking for even more, Volvo has incorporated options like an augmented reality head-up display, an AI-powered voice system, and full smartphone app connectivity and over-the-air software updates.
Volvo's safety heritage is evident here, too. The XC70 uses radars, cameras, and sensors to enable advanced functions, including automatic lane changing, cyclist alerts, and parking assistance. Together, they enhance usability in everyday scenarios while prioritising safety in the driving experience.
