2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Reaches Dealerships Across India
  • The updated Taigun brings a sharper exterior, a considerably richer interior, and a new eight-speed torque converter automatic to the competitive mid-size SUV space.

  • Priced from Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it is now available in six variants and nine colour options.

From Launch Pad to Showroom Floor

Volkswagen officially launched the 2026 Taigun facelift in India just last week, and the updated model has started making its way to local dealerships. With deliveries expected to begin shortly, prospective buyers can now walk into a showroom and see the car in the flesh, which, for a model that has been generating considerable buzz, is no small moment.

A Fresh Face That Means Business

The visual changes on the 2026 Taigun are immediately apparent. Up front and at the rear, the car now sports LED light bars that give it a far more contemporary look. The Volkswagen logos at both ends are illuminated, adding a premium touch that feels well-suited to the brand's positioning.

The revised lighting elements at either end and the redesigned alloy wheels round off a facelift that genuinely looks like a meaningful update rather than a token refresh.

A Cabin That Raises the Bar

Step inside, and the improvements become even more noticeable. The 2026 Taigun gains a virtual cockpit, an updated operating system for its infotainment unit, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, rear AC vents, a cooled glovebox, automatic climate control, a rear wiper and washer.

On the safety front, six airbags come as standard, along with front and rear parking sensors. It is a comprehensive list, and one that makes the cabin feel genuinely well-appointed.

Engines Carried Over, Gearbox Gets a Welcome Addition

Under the bonnet, Volkswagen has retained the familiar 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines from the previous model.

What is new, however, is the addition of an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, joining the existing six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG options. This wider transmission choice is likely to appeal to a broader cross-section of buyers, particularly those who have long preferred a traditional automatic over a dual-clutch unit.

Variants, Colours, and What Comes Next

Buyers can choose from six variants and nine colour options, giving the 2026 Taigun a degree of personalization that should help it stand out on the road. With the car now physically present at dealerships, formal deliveries are expected to commence soon.
