The sub-compact SUV segment is quite popular and highly contested with the Maruti Brezza having been a favorite for several years now. However, with the new imported models that have been recently launched in the market such as the Mahindra XUV 3XO (facelifted XUV300), there are a lot of segment-first features and some innovations present. The following 10 factors highlight the strength that it possesses compared to its main rival Maruti Brezza.
It also features a stunning and unique attribute of a panoramic sunroof which is another luxury that is offered only in higher segments of sub-compact SUVs the Mahindra XUV3XO. This amenity was previously limited to more spacious full-sized SUVS and grants the driver a wider vision as well as a more airy interior environment. For instance, while among the comforts the Maruti Brezza offers only the single-paned sunroof which, to the company’s credit, is present in all of its competitors.
The XUV 3XO sets a new benchmark in safety with its comprehensive ADAS package. While it is not the first sub-compact SUV to offer ADAS, it is the first to include adaptive cruise control along with autonomous emergency braking and lane-keep assist. These features enhance driver safety and convenience significantly. The Maruti Brezza, unfortunately, does not offer any such advanced driver assistance features.
Adding to the XUV 3XO's suite of safety features are front parking sensors, which aid drivers in navigating congested traffic and tight parking spaces with ease. Although the Brezza includes a 360-degree view camera, it lacks these additional sensors, which would complement its existing safety tech.
Comfort is another area where the XUV 3XO excels. It offers a dual-zone climate control system, allowing the driver and front passenger to set different temperatures for their zones. This feature has been a part of the XUV300 since 2019 but is still absent in the Maruti Brezza, which only offers a standard single-zone climate control system.
In terms of in-car technology, the Mahindra XUV 3XO outshines the Brezza with its larger 10.25-inch displays for both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The Brezza, on the other hand, features a 9-inch infotainment screen and traditional analogue dials in its instrument cluster, making the XUV 3XO more advanced and user-friendly.
Performance is a critical factor for many buyers, and the XUV 3XO offers more options and power. It is available with two turbo-petrol engines and one diesel engine, whereas the Brezza is limited to a single petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The standard petrol engine of the XUV 3XO delivers an additional 9 PS and 63 Nm of torque over the Brezza. Both SUVs offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, but only the Brezza includes a factory-fitted CNG option.
Safety is further enhanced in the XUV 3XO with all-wheel disc brakes, providing superior stopping power and control. The Maruti Brezza only has disc brakes on the front wheels, with drum brakes at the rear, which is less effective in high-performance scenarios.
The XUV 3XO features an electronic parking brake, offering both convenience and a more modern cabin aesthetic. This system allows drivers to engage and disengage the parking brake with the push of a button. In contrast, the Brezza employs a traditional mechanical parking brake lever, which requires more physical effort and lacks the sleek design of its electronic counterpart.
Continuing with its premium offerings, the XUV 3XO is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, compared to the Brezza's 16-inch wheels. The larger wheels not only enhance the SUV's appearance but also improve its road grip and stability.
While the Mahindra XUV 3XO boasts numerous additional features, it remains competitively priced against the Maruti Brezza. Although the base price of the Brezza is higher, the XUV 3XO's top variants, with their extensive feature set and superior performance options, justify the higher price tag.
Therefore, with packed features, safety and performance, the Mahindra XUV 3XO stands out as a sub-compact SUV, which will attract both classes worldwide. Whether these advantages will help to turn away buyers from the Maruti Brezza one has to wait but undoubtedly the XUV 3XO keeps the consumers ready for a new range of models to expect in this segment.
