How do I get FASTag for my vehicle?

FASTag was first introduced in India in 2014. This enables quick digital toll payment for all vehicles passing toll booths on National Highway. The Government of India introduced the FASTag technology after looking at the wait times and inconveniences faced by the drivers.

What is a FASTag?

FASTag is an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Technology) enabled sticker linked to your e-wallet or bank account. When your vehicle passes a toll plaza, your FASTag sticker is scanned, and a radio signal is emitted. The radio wave is then received back by the reader and the toll is deducted immediately. And all this happens all the while your vehicle is in motion. So, you will not have to stop at the plaza and can keep moving forward.

Every new vehicle comes with a FASTag affixed. However, if your car does not have a FASTag, there is no need to worry. National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 22 banks in India for the sale of FASTags. Along with NHAI plazas, petrol pumps and common service centres have set up upwards of 25000 point-of-sale terminals across India. Moreover, you do not need to be an existing customer of these banks to avail the facility of FASTag. You can visit the website of these banks and get one for your vehicle.

Park+ and IDFC First Bank have joined hands and have launched India's first all-in-one FASTag. It is a single RFID tag which has multiple uses. In addition to driving through toll plazas seamlessly, now you can use the same tag for your society entrance, HPCL petrol pumps, and selected parking spaces.
