The Government of India has made it necessary for all four-wheeler vehicles to attach a FASTag on them to alleviate long lines and traffic at toll gates throughout the nation.
With the use of this tag, you will be able to pass through all toll booths operated by the National Highways Authority of India without having to pause to make cash payments.
For seamless movements through highways, your FASTag account must have sufficient balance in it. The maximum recharge limit will vary depending on the kind of car you drive and the account that's connected to your FASTag.
There are a few ways to recharge your FASTag. We have listed them in the sections below.
You can direct your bank to deduct the specified amount from your bank account and credit your FASTag wallet every month. You can link any of your bank savings or current accounts to FASTag Wallet and set up automatic debit instructions if you have any of these types of accounts.
Therefore, the money (as per pre-set permission) will automatically be debited from the connected account and transferred to your FASTag wallet when the balance in your FASTag wallet runs low.
However, if there are insufficient funds in your account to transfer the money to your FASTag Wallet your car might be delayed at the toll booth for the same reason.
To recharge using this technique, you will need your online banking login information. Enter your wallet ID and the amount you'd like to recharge by logging into your account and going to the recharge section. To make the payment, select your bank account and complete any necessary details.
Note: If you recharge your FASTag wallet online, you might have to pay a convenience fee.
For offline FASTag Wallet recharge, you can visit the branch of the bank from which you have purchased your FASTag, You can then write a cheque for the recharge amount and deposit it against your FASTag account.
For managing your Fastag balance better, you should be checking it quite often.
For that, there are a few ways which are listed below in detail:

The SMS will also contain information about the remaining balance on your FASTag account. So, look for the most recent FASTag transaction notice on your phone to check your balance.
Ways to Manage your FASTag Balance in Case of Mishaps
In case FASTag is deducted twice, you should get in touch with customer service as soon as possible, who will then submit the issue to the NPCI system for resolution.
In case the tag at the toll booth is not read, you may pay the toll in cash and pass through the toll plaza if the tag reader at the plaza is not functioning.
Or you can ask the owner of the toll plaza to use the hand-held gadget to read the tag if it is not properly pasted on the car and then pass through the toll plaza. Then, you can phone customer service and report the problem; customer service will take it on and fix it without charge.
