The 2023 Mercedes-AMG 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet has been launched in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.30 Crore. The model has been introduced as a completely built unit (CBU) or imported model and essentially is a sportier two-door convertible version of the standard Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The car comes at a premium of around Rs. 24 lakh over the standard E 53 4Matic+ and gets similar AMG specific styling updates at the front, while the profile and rear gets a new design. The car also gets updated creature comforts and cabin.

Beginning with the design, the E53 4Matic+ Cabriolet gets the trademark Panamericana grille flanked by sleeker LED headlights, while the bumper too has been tweaked and features bigger air curtains. The profile of the car looks very distinctive courtesy its length and large overhangs while the 19-inch matte black alloy wheels accentuates its stance. The rear too complements the sporty character of the car housing wraparound taillights that look very stylish and quad exhaust tips at the bottom. The two-door layout and revised roof-line courtesy the folding soft-top too add to the aesthetics and the entire folding mechanism of the soft-top takes around 20 seconds. The car is being offered in five body colours – Obsidian Black, Slenite Grey, Designo Opalite White Bright, Designo Spectral Blue Magno and Designo Patagonia Red Bright. Adding to the convenience is also the adjustable pop up roll bar positioned above the windscreen, helping to deflect the air at higher speeds.

AMG specific elements are in plenty starting with the sportier bucket seats and the flat bottom steering wheels. Buyers can also choose from three upholstery themes designed by Designo – black & red, black & brown and all-black with contrast red stitching. It also offers multiple inlay options like carbon fibre and silver inserts among others. Moreover, the AMG E53 4Matic+ Cabriolet features the 590 watt 13-speaker Burmester sound system along with creature comforts like four-zone climate control and ventilated seats among others. The car is equipped with safety features like seven airbags, pre-collision assist and active distant assist among others.

The engine belts out 430 bhp and 520 Nm with the 48V system offering a 21 bhp and 250 Nm boost during hard acceleration. Power is sent to all four wheels through the nine-speed automatic gearbox and the German brand claims 4.5 second for the 0 -100 kmph sprint on the AMG E53 Cabriolet while it in-turn clocks a top-speed of 250 kmph top speed.
