Gurugram Traffic Police on Tuesday issued challans to 751 vehicles breaking rules on NH-48. Of these, challans were issued to 249 vehicles for driving on the wrong side.

Heavy vehicle drivers on National Highway-48 do not care about traffic rules. Of the vehicles plying on the highway, 50 percent of heavy vehicle drivers were found breaking traffic rules. This came to light in the challans issued during the special campaign that lasted till late night on Tuesday. During this period, more than 55 traffic police personnel including two ACPs were deployed at 11 places on the highway from Sarhaul to Khaidkidaula toll.

According to the traffic police, this campaign will continue. The traffic police claim that with this type of driving, heavy vehicle drivers will follow the rules and accidents will be reduced. This campaign ran from morning till late evening on Tuesday under the supervision of ACP Traffic Highway Suresh Kumar and ACP Traffic West Sukhbir Singh. During this period, teams of 2 traffic inspectors, 11 zonal officers and other officers were deployed in this area.

Police teams issued 751 challans throughout the day. In lieu of these challans, a fine of Rs 6 lakh 22 thousand 500 was imposed. Maximum 404 challans were issued by the police for lane driving. Apart from heavy vehicles, these also include 58 buses. 249 challans were issued on the wrong side of the highway.

Apart from this, 66 challans were issued without belts. These challans were more at Sarhaul Toll, Shankar Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Narsinghpur, and Khaidkidaula points. DCP Traffic Virendra Vij said that the special drive will continue against those breaking the rules on the highway.
