Car and bike owners face massive relief as the government offers them heavy discounts and a chance to clear their pending challans and fines for 15 more days without a late fee.
In a decision that eases the burden on motorists across the state, the Telangana Home Minister, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, announced an extension of 15 days regarding the deadline for paying all traffic challans. The extension of the deadline (previously set on 31 March 2022) is also accompanied by a drastically discounted rate for the payments of the pending fines and challans, offering financial relief to vehicle owners.
By the authority of the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the new date for clearing all due challans has been shifted to 14 April 2022.
Home Minister Ali said INR 840 crore was owed to the state in 2.4 crore unpaid challans. So far, INR 250 crore has been paid by the public in time to meet the earlier deadline of 31 March 2022. The concession time will be advantageous to over 52% of motorists across the state as they scramble to make payments and avoid late fees and additional penalties.
Post covid, and through the pandemic and lockdown, people everywhere have struggled under the burden of financial difficulties. The discounted payment plan for challans is a welcome move to help car and bike owners in Telangana manage this due expense and help the state clearly all due payments.

The discount also applies to the No-Mask Fine earlier INR 1000. The same has been reduced to INR 100 for pending fines.
