Karnataka Traffic Police Offer 50% Discounts On e-Challan Fines Till February 11

In order to provide relief to vehicle users, the state government of Karnataka announced a 50% cut on the e-challan traffic fines, valid till February 11.

The Karnataka state government has announced a 50% rebate in fines in e-challans cases registered by the traffic police across Karnataka if recompensed by February 11. This step is taken to provide time and relief to the vehicle owners and majorly to clear the backlog of traffic violations.

The decision was taken by B Veerappa, Executive Chairman, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, and issued by the Under Secretary of the Transport Department Pushpa VS.

The issued order stated, “In the backdrop of the factors outlined in the proposal, for the cases that will be settled before February 11, 2023, a rebate of 50 per cent has been ordered as a one-time measure.”

During the Lok Adalat, held in November 2022, around 4.2 lakh traffic-challan cases were disposed of as pre-litigation cases, and Rs 23 Crore in penalties was collected. A senior IPS officer said that approximately Rs. 530 crores are pending from traffic violators in Karnataka State.

Traffic violators who have pending challans can do it online by visiting the official Bengaluru traffic police website. You can also visit the respective 47 traffic police stations or the Traffic Management Centre on Infantry road to pay fines. People who live outside Bengaluru can pay e-challans via KarnatakaOne or at any respective police station in Karnataka.
