Road safety is a critical development priority for India, impacting citizens' health, well-being, and economic growth. Considering this, Gurugram Traffic Police and Park+ came together on 1st January 2023 and launched a campaign together named #MakeGurugramRoadsSafe.
This campaign aimed to educate vehicle owners regarding traffic rules. However, it happened with a twist, as an artist dressed as Yamraj engaged with the public to educate traffic rule violators about the correct traffic rules & regulations. Shri Shiva Archan, ACP, Traffic HQ, from Huda City Centre, Main Chowk, flagged the campaign.
Gurgram is an IT Hub where lakhs of vehicles are operated daily. Illegal parking, traffic jams, wrong-side driving, and other traffic violations have led to a deteriorating and stressful driving experience on the Gurugram roads. However, accidents occur due to multiple reasons, such as drunken driving, distracted driving, not wearing a seatbelt, breaking traffic rules, not wearing a helmet, and more. Thus, it is imperative to follow all the traffic guidelines to prevent accidents.
According to a report by MoRTH, approximately 4 lakh road accidents happened in 2021, of which 1.5 lakh led to deaths. It also mentioned that not wearing a helmet caused injuries to 93,763 people, whereas not wearing a seat belt while driving caused 39,231 injuries to the people. Hence, it is essential to follow traffic rules to make Gurugram roads safe and minimize the occurrence of accidents and fatalities. For this, the citizens of Gurugram need to unite to make the roads safe again.
Mr. Amit Lakhotia, CEO & Founder of Park+, said, "At Park+ we are committed to making Indian roads safer and smarter. As part of this endeavor we have partnered with Gurugram traffic police to launch #MakeGurugramRoadsSafe. As a Gururgram headquartered auto-tech startup, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to partner with like minded government institutions to ideate and create digital first products, geared to make Gurugram roads safer. We encourage all Gurugram citizens to follow traffic rules and help Gurugram Traffic Police in making Gurugram roads safe."
Considering this association, Shri Shiva Archan, ACP, Traffic HQ, said, "Its new year eve and we are excited to associate with Park+ to launch #MakeGurugramRoadsSafe campaign. Through the campaign we hope to reach out to the maximum number of Gurugram residents and encourage them to make a new year resolution to follow all traffic rules. The intent is to make Gurugram roads safer, by minimizing traffic violations, through better awareness.”
Following this, it is vital to safely protect yourself and others around you by following the safety rules. It may include following safety procedures, paying attention to surroundings, and being cautious. By being proactive, we can create a safer environment for ourselves and those around us!
