Upcoming Hyundai Exter Micro SUV Spotted Testing Sans Camouflage

Hyundai India is all set to launch the Tata Punch rivalling, Hyundai Exter micro SUV in India this festive season and the car has been spotted testing without camouflage for the first time.

Hyundai India is gearing up to enter the micro SUV segment with the Exter around this festive season. Test mules of the new Hyundai Exter micro SUV have been doing rounds in India for quite some time and now the car has been spotted testing without camouflage for the first time. Yes! We now have a fair idea of how the new Hyundai Exter look. And we have to say that the new Hyundai Exter looks very fresh and new, deviating from the typical Hyundai design.

The upright and boxy design build up on its tall boy looks and you see a healthy does of SUVish elements like bold claddings, chunky skid plates, large glass house area, squared wheel arches and tall pillars. The flat bonnet and nose with a three-tier design too add to the SUV stance and the bold radiator grille runs the width of the front end. The SUV also boasts new H-patterned element like the LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and projector LED headlights, which will be seen on more Hyundai SUVs in future.

The boxy silhouette is quite apparent in the profile of the Hyundai Exter and it rides on bigger alloy wheels which appear to be 16-inchers in size shod in adequately thick tyre profile. You also see bold roof rails and contrast treatment for the C-Pillar. The rear end too is flat and gets the dual tone finish in body colour and matte-black. The taillamps look quite similar to units seen on the Grand i10 Nios but are sharper in terms of treatment. You also get to see modern elements a chunky piano black bar and H-Shaped motifs in the taillamp cluster.

We still don’t have any idea of how the Hyundai Exter will look on the inside. That said, we expect it to come up with all modern creature comforts like a bigger touchscreen system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and connected tech, air purifier, auto climate control system and premium sound system among others.

Under the hood, the new Hyundai Exter is expected to come with the option of a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder MPI petrol engine, along with the choice of both manual and automatic gearbox options. It will be positioned below the Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV and will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch and Citroen C3.
