All four models here are imported as fully built CBUs, and import duty, low volumes and performance hardware push prices far above regular hatchbacks and sedans. No mass-market convertible is listed under Rs 30 lakh.

MINI launched the Cooper Convertible on 12 December 2025 at Rs 58.50 lakh, a figure some pages still show. Current listings put the Cooper Convertible S at Rs 59 lakh, with the JCW Pack at Rs 61.50 lakh and the limited Stardust Edition at Rs 62.90 lakh. That makes it the cheapest convertible car in India in current listings, at roughly 15 times the price of the cheapest car in India.
A 2.0-litre turbo petrol makes 201 bhp and 300 Nm through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic to the front wheels, with 0 to 100 km/h in a reported 6.9 seconds. It seats four, though the rear bench suits children or short trips. The electric fabric roof opens in about 18 to 20 seconds at speeds up to 30 km/h. Retail sheets report 215 litres of boot space with the roof up and 160 litres with it down.
What to expect? Pick it for the lowest entry price and compact city size. Accept a firm ride, tight rear seats and limited luggage room.
MG opened bookings in July 2025 at Rs 74.99 lakh for fresh bookings. Outright pricing has since climbed to Rs 82,49,800 ex-showroom, and a limited 50-unit Couture Edition costs Rs 87.49 lakh. A battery rental option, reported at Rs 72.49 lakh plus Rs 8 per km, is not counted.
It is a strict two-seater with scissor doors and a fabric roof that retail listings say closes in about 10 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. A 77 kWh battery and dual motors give all-wheel drive, 503 bhp (510 PS) and 725 Nm. MG claims 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, a 200 km/h top speed and 580 km of MIDC range.
DC charging from 10 to 80 per cent takes 40 minutes on a 144 kW charger, and home charging to full takes about 12.5 hours. Boot space is 249 litres.
What to expect? Pick it for silent electric torque and the quickest acceleration in this group. Plan for MG's limited Select network, 13 cities at launch, and two-seat practicality.
BMW launched the M440i xDrive Convertible on 4 May 2026 at Rs 1,09,00,000 ex-showroom. The BMW India configurator now indicates Rs 1,10,65,000, and the reason for the gap is not specified, so ask your dealer for the invoice price on the day.
A 3.0-litre inline-six turbo makes 374 hp and 500 Nm through an 8-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW claims 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a 250 km/h limited top speed. The fabric roof opens or closes in 18 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. Boot space is 385 litres with the roof up, and the launch release gives no roof-down figure.
What to expect? Pick it for relaxed cruising with strong six-cylinder pull and more cabin room than a two-seater, and expect higher running and tyre costs than the MINI.
Mercedes-Benz launched the CLE 300 Cabriolet in August 2024 at Rs 1.10 crore, and current listings show Rs 1.15 crore ex-showroom for the 300 4MATIC AMG Line. A 2.0-litre turbo petrol with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance makes 258 hp plus a 23 hp boost and 400 Nm through a 9-speed automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The claimed 0 to 100 km/h time is 6.6 seconds.
At 4,850 mm long, it is the largest car here. The acoustic fabric roof opens or closes in 20 seconds at speeds up to 60 km/h, with AIRCAP wind deflection and AIRSCARF neck heating. Boot space is reported as 385 litres roof up and 295 litres roof down.
What to expect? Pick it if comfort, quiet cruising and rear-seat access matter more than sharpness.
Budget beyond the ex-showroom. This is a different budget from the cheapest car in India: on-road costs add a large sum to the sticker price. Delhi on-road is reported at Rs 68.10 to 68.74 lakh for the MINI and an estimated Rs 1.33 to 1.34 crore for the CLE.
Weather: Heat, dust and monsoon rain mean you will drive roof-up for much of the year, so look for covered parking.
Space: Boot space shrinks with the roof down, and the Cyberster has no rear seats. If this is your only car, the CLE or M440i is easier to live with.
Service: All four are CBU imports, so confirm service location, warranty terms and, for the Cyberster, battery warranty and charger installation before paying a booking amount.
There is no mass-market convertible in current listings, so the cheapest convertible car in India is a premium purchase from the start. Choose the MINI for price and city ease, the Cyberster for electric pace, the M440i for six-cylinder pull with usable space and the CLE for quiet four-seat touring.
